The technology sector shapes the world we live in and the future we imagine. Having worked in the industry for over two decades, I’ve seen first-hand how, as much as our industry prides itself on innovation, we still have boundaries to break. The most difficult of these are not technical, but cultural: the persistent lack of diversity, especially at senior levels.

I believe that true progress in tech comes when we challenge the status quo, drive equity, and empower others to lead. Throughout my journey, I’ve directly seen how diversity isn’t just a “nice to have” – it’s a strategic imperative. When we bring together people from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, we unlock new ideas, better solutions, and stronger teams. Diversity is not a statistic; it’s a strength that drives performance and innovation.

As a senior leader managing global partners and a team spanning 32 countries, I’ve embedded inclusion into every layer of strategy. My approach is people-first; setting clear objectives, nurturing talent, and ensuring every voice is heard. Part of this is mentorship, but going that step further than just helping people progress. It’s advocating to ensure that everyone is seen, heard, and supported, to create a ripple effect that inspires others to do the same.

Breaking barriers means rethinking how we define leadership potential. Too often, women are overlooked for senior roles because they don’t fit a traditional mould. Leaders need to focus on adaptability, empathy, and inclusion. Often seen as soft skills, these are in fact incredible strategic assets. By setting clear, inclusive objectives, embedding development into performance plans, and ensuring women are given stretch opportunities – not just support roles.

But visibility must be matched with action. We need inclusive recruitment, transparent promotion pathways, and business-wide sponsorship for emerging talent. Leaders must actively champion diverse voices and ensure they are heard at the decision-making table. Ultimately, we need to build a culture where women are not just welcomed – but expected – in every role. That’s how we create a stronger, more equitable industry for everyone.

Technology should be built for everyone, by everyone. By pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and breaking down barriers of inclusion, to not only shape better businesses but to shape a better future. My commitment is to keep using my platform to advocate, influence, and inspire the next generation of leaders. Because when women rise, they don’t just break barriers – they build bridges.
