Scenario
With offices throughout the country and units in several major
cities in the world, one of the biggest private banks in Brazil put
out high costs with on-the-road executives, including
transportation, lodging, and most of all, time. To reduce these
costs, the financial institution has decided to improve and expand
the capabilities of video communications, investing in a
telepresence system.
Solution
PromonLogicalis image collaboration solution, which combines
audio and video over IP network, was chosen to ensure that
executives could enjoy the same benefits of an in person meeting,
but would reduce the time and costs with constant displacement.
More than 20 telepresence rooms were installed - of different
sizes and using various types of equipment - in offices in Sao
Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Belo
Horizonte, London, New York and Miami.
Among the technologies used, are the Cisco CTS 3000 system -
with three 65 inch screens and up to 18 people capacity - Cisco CTS
1300 system - which features a 65 inch screen and can accommodate
up to six people simultaneously - and the individual Cisco CTS 500
system. In addition, the client’s proprietary videoconferencing
system was kept and integrated with the new equipment.
Results
The project benefits are already being felt by
the financial institution. In 2010, 653 meetings were held - more
than two meetings per day - which allowed 100 international trips
not to be performed and 33,000 km of car movements were avoided.
Besides the reduction in operating costs, the solution has ensured
faster decision making and increased productivity.
