Logicalis awarded 7 Year contract to operate Public Sector Broadband Aggregation service on behalf of Welsh Assembly Government
Slough, 9th October 2007: Logicalis, an international provider of ICT solutions, today announced it has been awarded a £74million, seven-year contract to build and operate a multi-agency public sector broadband network on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government. The new Public Sector Broadband Aggregation (PSBA) network will allow organisations and agencies across Wales, ranging from hospitals, universities, government offices, GPs' surgeries, schools and libraries, to achieve better value for money in their use of broadband communications, as well as increasing the services available to Welsh public sector organisations.
With the overriding aim of improving the efficiency and delivery of a whole range of services to millions of people across Wales, the new network expects to support 5500 public sites across Wales. The network will launch in December 2007, with the migration of users from the existing network taking place throughout 2008.
