Logicalis Group Expands South American Operations
Opens offices in Chile and Peru, builds on Cisco partner award recognition
Logicalis Group has announced its intention to invest over US$1 million to establish new offices in Chile and Peru. The offices - to be based in Santiago and Lima - will be 100 per cent owned by Logicalis South America Limited ("LSAL").
The new locations are the next stage in the execution of a plan whereby already, over the past two years, Logicalis has successfully developed a regional business to support multi-national customers operating in South America by way of a network of wholly-owned offices and local partners.
"South America has, for some time, been an area where Logicalis has led the way in consistently providing customers and partners with innovative, market-leading services, solutions and applications, " says Logicalis group chief executive, Jens Montanana. "For instance, we are successfully implementing ALICE (America Latina Interconectada Con Europa) - the first high speed backbone network and direct transatlantic link for the benefit of the research and education communities in Latin America and Europe – as well as helping existing commercial customers such as Repsol, Telefonica, Telmex and Petrobras grow their businesses in the region."
In addition, Logicalis' commitment to its strategic partners led to Logicalis Argentina receiving the ‘Cisco Worldwide Enterprise Partner of the Year 2005' award - Cisco's top award for its enterprise partners - in addition to being recognised as ‘Cisco South America Enterprise Partner of the Year 2005' and the ‘Cisco South America Partner of the Year 2005' .
"Our goal is to be the partner of choice for advanced technology vendors and users in South America and to achieve this we will focus our offices in Chile and Peru particularly on IPT (IP telephony) market - where we intend to be the number one provider in the market growing at 100 per cent a year – as well as in security," he emphasises.
Logicalis' strategic partners see huge growth potential in South America. In particular, Cisco expects to grow 40 per cent in each of the next two years. Logicalis intends to increase its revenues in Chile and Peru nearly seven-fold by the end of fiscal year 2008 and, in doing so, position itself as the number one Cisco partner in the region.
Logicalis will be recruiting new management, sales, technical, finance, logistics and administrative staff in both locations.
"The South American ICT market is crying out for a service-oriented organisation, particularly one with a proven managed services and shared support capability and the ability to work right across the region," concludes Montanana. "We are that organisation; one that is already committed to and active in South America but that can also bring state-of-the-art experience and expertise to bear from successful operations in Europe and North America."
