Eagle Family Foods chooses Logicalis for its Data Center Migration
The Client
Eagle Family Foods manufactures and markets a portfolio of leading dry-grocery food brands with widely recognized and established identities. With annual sales of $225 million, and 380 employees across four manufacturing facilities and offices in Tarrytown (New York), operations in Gahanna (Ohio) and a R&D facility in Columbus (Ohio), Eagle Family Food's products are available in retail outlets everywhere in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, parts of Latin America and Asia, as well as in foodservice channels and industrial markets.
The Challenge
When Eagle Family Foods decided to move its data center operations from Columbus, Ohio to Boston, Massachusetts, they chose Logicalis. "During the past three years, we have relied on Logicalis for several projects," said Robert Marshak, Director of IS for Eagle. "They built an HP UNIX foundation, performed a data migration and most recently, relocated several servers. We were pleased with the service we received on each occasion, so Logicalis was our first choice for the data center move."
The Solution
Logicalis' team arrived at the Columbus data center on a Friday morning and began an inventory of IT assets including Compaq NT servers, HP UNIX servers and an EMC Disc Frame. In Massachusetts, Saturday's equipment set-up process was somewhat more complex. There, the Logicalis team coordinated their efforts with information services representatives from Eagle Family Foods and customer engineers from EMC. People from the new data center management facility were also on-hand, as well as those providing the equipment hoteling service.
